- Dont get a lot of these. Get enough to maintain for a month. After that you can purchase here.
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a complete shaving kit, nailcutter, combs, hair oil, shampoo, talcum powder etc
Study Materials & Stationary
- Calculator
- Must have a backpack (eg - school bag types?) (a good one, you'll use it almost all the time)
Medicines
- Vicks, Iodex, Crocin, Aspirin. Also personal medication (if on any)
- Get prescription for these...
- Spare eyeglasses/contact lenses, etc.
- GET A COMPLETE DENTAL/EYE CHECKUP DONE BEFORE GETTING HERE.
Things to do before coming here
- Learn some cooking. It makes life a lot easier. You can also invite your new American friends to dinner, nothing makes them happier than some good home cooking. There are some American who love Indian curry than anything else.
- Get an "International Driving Permit". The adavantes of getting this varies state to state. But it is not a bad idea to get one.
- Get a good haircut just before leaving.
- It is good to have a contact established at the university who'll tend to your arrival and initial accomodation and settling down.
