US Immigration

You will be going through immigration at your port of enrty to the US. POrt of entry is the first airport you land in the land US.

Documents needed

• Passport with the visa
• I-20
• Sevis receipt
• You will fill two forms before you land at the port of entry. The white form is called as ' I-94 arrrival-departure record'. The blue form is called as 'customs form'. Those forms will be given before you board your flight to the port of entry or during the flight.
• A sample of the customs form can be found at http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/travel/id_visa/i-94_instructions/sample_cbp_decla.ctt/sample_cbp_decla.pdf and a sample of the white I-94 form can be found at http://amsterdam.usconsulate.gov/uploads/images/0Ljp8cEMWf1IAys7kaycBQ/I-94.JPG. You can go through them to make yourself familiar with it.

At immigration

• When you get to the immigration officer, give the passport, I-20 and the forms to him.
• He will record your fingerprint and a picture.
• He will ask questions about your visit to the US.
• The office will then staple the bottom of the white form called as I-94 to your passport. Keep it carefully. You need to return it when you leave the country.
• He will also stamp and return the customs form along with the passport and I-20.
• Yay!!! You are in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!

Good to know

• You might see people rushing out of the flight after it landed at the port of the entry. They are trying to be at the front of the long immigration queue
