US Visa fee

Visa fees must be paid at designated HDFC bank before you can book your visa appointment. Instructions at https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/USIndia/applicationfee.html

Things needed

  • Visa Application Fee in cash or by DD/HDFC-Bank-cheque favouring “US Embassy - Visa Fees” for Rs. 6720. This is a equivalent of $140.
  • VFS Service Charge in cash or by DD/HDFC-Bank-cheque favouring “HDFC Bank a/c VFS” for Rs.374.
  • Copy of your Passport's first page (The page with your photo).

Good to know

  • The list of HDFC banks that accept visa fees is available at https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/USIndia/pdf/HDFC%20Locationsfeescenter.pdf
  • If somebody else is making the payment on behalf of you, they can make the payment only in the locations marked in "red". Payments cannot be made in cash when somebody else goes to pay on behalf of you.
  • The fee can be paid upto one year before your appointment.
  • The receipt needs to be activated by VFS before you can make the visa appointment. This usually takes 1-2 working days. So don't wait until the interview slots are open. The dates seems to run out quicker during to the peak student season.
  • Keep the receipts safely since you need to turn in the blue copy when you go to the interview.
  • You will also need the number on the receipt's bar-code to book the visa appointment.
