US Visa Interview

Things needed

• Passport
• Printout of interview appointment letter
• HDFC receipt (Blue copy)
• Printout of DS-160 the confirmation page with the bar code
• I-20
• Sevis receipt
• One photograph as per specification http://travel.state.gov/visa/guide/guide_3877.html
• Individual Mark sheets from your previous degrees and school
• Degree certificate or Degree completion certificate
• GRE/GMAT/TOEFL scores
• Bank statements, Tax forms along with other financial supporting document
• Resume

Good to know

• There are security guidelines which will prevent you from taking stuff like cell phones, cd's inside the consulate. Regulations at https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/USIndia/securityregulations.html
• Arrange the documents in a folder that has expandable pockets for dividing stuff. Something like http://images.google.com/images?q=Portable%20Expanding%20File
• You must be able to easily get the documents that the interviewing officer wants to look at.
• Do not show documents to the officer unless he wants to look at them. The interview is more important than the documents
• Keep cool

Receiving passport

• You will receive the passport in the mail with in a couple of days after the interview. You can track the status of the passport at the VFS website.
